The Sister’s of Mercy operated several ‘homes’ and hospitals in Perth, whose primary function was to facilitate forced adoption practices and policies. Often, unmarried mothers were referred to the facilities via church connections and Catholic GP’s located across the state of Western Australia. Adoptions were privately organised by the Sisters of Mercy, via Perth solicitors - often to adoptive parents who were known to them and even to family members of the S of M.
Some records have been removed from the state of Western Australia and are reportedly held in NSW. However, the first place to make connect with is-
